No More Room in Hell 2 is on PS5, and it launched alongside the 1.0 "Armageddon" update on August 11, 2026. This is the first time the series has appeared on a console at all, after nearly two years of PC-only Early Access. It runs 8-player co-op with full crossplay to PC and Xbox, online play needs PS Plus, and there is no PS4 version.
Checked August 17, 2026 against game version 1.0. The PS5 build did not exist before August 11, 2026, so every "what platforms is NMRIH2 on" guide written during Early Access says PC and Steam only. Those pages aren't just incomplete, they're wrong now. Store prices and ratings below were read off the PlayStation Store on August 17, 2026.
What NMRIH2 costs on the PlayStation Store
| Edition | PlayStation Store price |
|---|---|
| Standard Edition | $29.99 |
| Deluxe Edition | $44.99 |
| Cosmetic packs (4, sold separately) | $4.99 each |
PS Plus members got 20% off the Standard Edition at launch, taking it to $23.99, and the listing showed that discount running through August 17, 2026. Check the PlayStation Store page for what it actually costs today.
The four add-on packs are Veteran Survivor, First Responder, Punk is Life and Surplus Officer. The game is developed by Torn Banner Studios and published on console by Green Man Gaming.
Do you need PS Plus to play NMRIH2 on PS5?
Yes, for the part you probably bought it for. The PlayStation Store listing states that online play with up to 8 players requires PS Plus. It also states that online play is optional and that the game supports single player, so a PS5 account without a subscription can still install it and play alone.
Two other subscription details from the same listing:
- Cloud streaming to PS5 and PS Portal is supported, and that requires PS Plus Premium specifically, not the base tier.
- The requirement is attached to online play, not to the game itself. Nothing about the campaign is locked behind the subscription.
The Xbox side works the same way with its own paywall: console online play there needs Game Pass Core or Ultimate, which is covered on our Xbox page.
Crossplay: who a PS5 player can squad with
All four launch storefronts share one player pool. A PS5 player can join a full 8-player co-op run mixing Steam, Epic Games Store, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players, with no platform-based matchmaking split. Publisher Green Man Gaming described the console builds as having full feature parity with PC.
Crossplay and cross-progression are two different things, and only one of them is confirmed. Crossplay (playing together) works across every platform. Cross-progression / cross-save (carrying your Responders and unlocks from PS5 to PC, or the reverse) has never been detailed by Torn Banner, and no official page mentions it. Until they say otherwise, assume progress stays on the platform where you earned it. Full breakdown on our crossplay page.
Is there a PS4 version of NMRIH2?
No. The PlayStation Store lists PS5 as the only PlayStation platform, and Torn Banner has not announced a PS4 version. The Xbox release follows the same pattern, Series X|S only. If you're on last-gen hardware, the only announced route in is PC.
PS5 controls and the settings to check first
These come from a 54-minute post-launch PS5 playthrough rather than an official controls document, so treat them as what a player found in the 1.0 build:
| Action | PS5 input |
|---|---|
| Open inventory | L1 |
| Melee swing | R2 (repeat presses alternate left, then right) |
Melee also has a quick attack and a charge attack, plus a kick, and melee weapons come in three tiers. The console settings menu exposes brightness, effects volume, volume display, invert look, crosshair, and an aim assist toggle, which is the one console players ask about most often.
Turn brightness up before your first real run. The same playthrough had to raise it manually just to see inside the tutorial building, and NMRIH2 deliberately gives you no glowing waypoints to fall back on.
Playing solo on PS5
Solo works, but read the fine print the game itself shows you. The in-game description of Solo Practice states that it does not count towards your online progression and does not contribute towards stats or achievements, but that characters will not be lost when dying or quitting.
That makes it a genuinely useful place to learn the map layouts and the melee timing without burning a Responder. It also means nothing you do there carries into your real profile. More on how that mode is scoped on our solo mode page.
What PS5 players are complaining about
This section is player and reviewer feedback, not official confirmation. Torn Banner has not published a console-specific known-issues list.
The clearest signal is the store rating itself. It sat at 4.88 / 5 on launch day (August 11, 2026, per PlayStation LifeStyle) and read 4.25 / 5 from 1,552 ratings when we checked on August 17, 2026. A drop that size in six days, as the player base widened, is worth knowing before you buy.
Specific reports:
- Pausing. A PS5 streamer working through the tutorial said he didn't think the game could be paused at all. That's one player's impression, not a confirmed design decision, but it matters if you mostly play solo on console.
- Dark interiors. Same run, tutorial building was too dark to read until brightness was raised manually.
- Controller support history. A pre-1.0 review, relayed second-hand, tested four controllers including a DualSense and hit aim snapping back to mouse input, menus that stopped responding, and objects that couldn't be interacted with. Important caveat: that testing was controllers plugged into a PC, not a PS5 console, and Torn Banner shipped a fix for a Steam input bug just before 1.0 and stated that full controller support works in any configuration. We have not seen an independent controller test of the PS5 console build either way.
What the PlayStation Store listing does not tell you
Negative information is still information, and several things people assume about a PS5 port simply aren't stated anywhere official:
The store page lists no haptic feedback and no adaptive trigger support. Don't assume either is in.
Not published on the store listing.
No PS5 frame rate or resolution target has been announced, and no performance/quality toggle is advertised.
Exactly one accessibility feature is listed: volume controls.
On languages, the listing gives English audio only, with interface and subtitle support in eight languages including Simplified Chinese.
